Mount Batten Clothes Collection Charity No. 1159633

The Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre in Plymouth is one of the foremost Outdoor Education centres in the South West – the Centre has a reputation for excellence,  professionalism and operates to the highest standards.

The Centre benefits from its unique position close to the picturesque Plymouth Sound, in these idyllic surroundings take the opportunity to escape routine and reinvigorate your healthy lifestyle.

In late 2014, the Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre was granted Charity status, the Centre had previously been run as a not-for-profit organisation. With our newly established Charity status we will be able to access funding and grants, and benefit from tax relief, enabling us to increase our offering and make further improvements to the Centre, ensuring that all of our activities continue to be for the benefit of the Plymouth, and wider, community.

The Centre is also working in association with Radio Plymouth to 'Recycle for Rewards' and all Plymouth Primary Schools are being encouraged to get involved by recycling clothes to earn credit for their school to 'spend' on activities here at the Centre. This recycling service is provided by Genie Recycling.

Make sure you keep an eye on this page ( and the Mount Batten Facebook page & Twitter feed for regular updates on the fundraising. And remember, encourage others to get involved by posting the above link on your Facebook or Twitter page! Read on for more information.

As the clothing we process is re-sold as second hand clothing, there are unfortunately certain items we cannot accept and need to make sure that all items collected are of a certain condition. Please see our What Genie Buys page for more information on the types of things we accept.

How is my donation calculated?

All customers who donate their clothing to the Mount Batten charity will earn 50p per kilogram for their unwanted clothes, footwear and accessories. That means for every full Genie Recycling Pack collected, up to £15.00 or more and the donation will go straight to helping more people.

Please note – payment is dependent on the items meeting the criteria listed on our What Genie Buys page, so to ensure your donation is put to the best use, please make sure you follow the guidelines.

Where does my donation go?
